Adam and Steve

The romantic trajectory of two people struggling to make love work in spite of overwhelming odds. Having met in the 80's after a disastrous one night stand, Adam and Steve don't recognize each other when they meet again fifteen years later. With the help of their best friends, formerly obese stand up comic Rhonda, and straight guy ladies man Michael, our protagonists fall in love only to realize, a year into their relationship, that they met before and unwittingly changed the course of each other's lives that fatefull night in the 80's. Now the question is--can they accept this and incorporate it into their current understanding of each other? Or more importantly, can they hold hands on the street without being beaten up?

Adventures of Sebastian Cole, The

Growing up in upstate New York, seventeen-year-old Sebastian Cole wants something else. He wants to get out and find adventure, new experiences. Little does he know life has plenty in store for him... Sebastian's family is suddenly thrown into a fantastic tailspin when his stepfather Hank announces that he is going to become a woman. In response, Sebastian's sister runs off to California with her boyfriend, and his hysterical mother Joan whisks him back with her to her native England. Unhappy with his new surroundings and his mother's coping through inebriation, Sebastian returns to New York. Instead of living with his phenomenally egocentric biological father Hartley, and his new trophy wife, Sebastian moves back in with Hank, now a macho pre-op named Henrietta. The two form an unlikely family.

All Over The Guy

Eli and Tom are two 20-somethings thrown together by their respective best friends, Jackie and Brett, in an attempt to ignite their own romance. While Jackie and Brett are falling in love, Eli and Tom are stumbling away from it. Ignoring Jackie's advice to stick with Eli, Tom finds himself in a cloud of loneliness, secrets and self-hate. Eli, on the other hand, turns for advice to his straight-talking sister Rayna. While both men agree that they couldn't be more opposite, they both feel the need to confide in someone: for Eli, that person is the receptionist at an STD clinic, while for Tom it is a man he meets at an AA meeting. After simultaneous wedding-day pep talks from Jackie and Brett, Eli and Tom begin to overcome their dysfunctional lives and listen to their hearts.

Almost Normal

A charming comedy about the trials of being different in high school, Almost Normal is a cross between Peggy Sue Got Married and Sixteen Candles. History professor Brad Jenkins (J. Andrew Keitch) is not happy about his upcoming 40th birthday or about his parents' anniversary celebration, which only promises another fight about Brad's homosexuality. He is even less excited to find himself still single. After an altercation with his mother Brad finds himself speeding down the road with a few too many under his belt. A collision transports him mysteriously back in time, putting him back in high school. But all is not as it was, as everyone at Lincoln High is gay, and Brad is given the opportunity to live out his biggest fantasy. Soon, however, the shocked youth discovers that "normal" isn't really all it's cracked up to be.

Basketball Diaries, The

An autobiographical account of poet and rock musician Jim Carroll's delinquent high school years, during which he excelled playing basketball for a boy's club team, meanwhile hustling to support his growing heroin addiction.

Beautiful Thing

This urban fairytale and a story of sexual awakening is set in the close-knit, working class community of the Thamesmead Estate, where there are no secrets and no opportunities for privacy, and where the next door neighbor is likely to be a cheeky young woman who loudly plays albums by the Mamas and the Papas while growing increasingly obsessed with Mama Cass. Here the focus is on Sandra and her teenage son, Jamie. Sandra works as manager of a local pub, hoping to one day own a place of her own. Jamie, in the meantime, is the kind of student who hates athletics and is victimized by his peers. Jamie's neighbor at Thamesmead, Ste, is a popular jock at the school, but Ste has his own problems at home. One night, Ste seeks refuge at Jamie's flat, where the two boys share a bed, and the foundation for first love is set.

Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss

A young gay photographer falls in love with a straight waiter who he hires as a model in the hopes of winning him over.

Birdcage, The

Armand and Albert have a home life many would envy. They share a long-term committed relationship encompassing their lives and careers and have together raised Armand's son Val. When Val announces his engagement to the daughter of an ultra-conservative U.S. Senator, what choice is there but to accept his decision with love? Meanwhile, Senator Keeley and his wife are watching his right-wing constituency evaporate with the scandalous demise of his closest political ally. A visit to their future in-laws could be just the thing to take the public's focus off the Keeley's messy predicament. With the impending visit of his fiancee's rigid family, Val asks his father to straighten up the apartment just a bit. All is entails is the removal of Armand's art collection, furnishings, clothes, job... and Albert.

But I'm A Cheerleader

Confident and opinionated, 17-year-old Megan is a high school student who has it all. She's popular, pretty, a model student, dates the captain of the football team and is a cheerleader. But she's also a vegetarian, likes Georgia O'Keefe and hates kissing her boyfriend, leading her horrified parents to conclude that she's... a lesbian! Their solution is to send Megan to True Directions, a "rehabilitation camp" run by homophobic counselor Mary Brown. At first, Megan resists "rehabilitation." Then she meets Graham, a sexy tomboy who shows her exactly what her "true direction" is.

Butch Camp

A comedy about a camp where effeminate men can learn macho survival techniques. As part of their training, they must then go out to practice surviving a night in a straight sports bar. Complications arise when one of the men arouses the passions of a man-hungry girl and her hunky, closeted boyfriend.

Capote

In November, 1959, Truman Capote, the author of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and a favorite figure in what is soon to be known as the Jet Set, reads an article on a back page of the New York Times. It tells of the murders of four members of a well-known farm family--the Clutters--in Holcomb, Kansas. Similar stories appear in newspapers almost every day, but something about this one catches Capote's eye. It presents an opportunity, he believes, to test hislong-held theory that, in the hands of the right writer, non-fiction can be as compelling as fiction. What impact have the murders had on that tiny town on the wind-swept plains? With that as his subject--for his purpose, it does notmatter if the murderers are never caught--he convinces The New Yorker magazine to give him an assignment and he sets out for Kansas. Accompanying him is a friend from his Alabama childhood: Harper Lee, who within a few months will win a Pulitzer Prize and achieve fame of her own as the author of "To Kill a Mockingbird."

D.E.B.S.

Recruited by the U.S. government for their unique abilities to lie, cheat and fight--and their exceptional SAT scores--four plaid-skirted high school girls are drafted to be secret agents. They soon become highly trained, fabulously dressed, top-secret agents, known as D.E.B.S. While on a stakeout of international master criminal Lucy Diamond, a massive shootout occurs and D.E.B.S.' star agent Amy is captured by Lucy's notoriously dangerous gang. But instead of killing Amy, Lucy asks her out. Only after escaping does Amy realize why good girls love bad girls and stages her own kidnapping and begins flirting with the dark side.

Die Mommie Die!

When the curtain rises on Angela Arden--ex-pop singer, mother, lover, and an amalgamation of every screen diva from 1940 to 1968--she is trapped in a hateful marriage with movie producer Sol Sussman. Her affair with out-of-work TV actor Tony Parker comes to a grinding halt when Sol returns from Europe earlier than expected. And when Daddy Sol suddenly dies (some confusion with a poisoned suppository), everyone gets into the act and almost everyone gets a piece of Tony, including Angela's Electra-esque daughter and twisted son.

Different For Girls

During the 1970s, Karl and Paul were best friends, creating havoc at school. When they meet again, accidentally, twenty years later, Paul does not recognize Karl who is now an attractive transsexual named Kim. She, on the other hand, has no problem recognizing her old trouble-making pal and has no desire to reveal her "true" identity to him -- she just wants to get on with her quiet, orderly new life. Paul is strangely attracted to Kim, and is shocked when he finally recognizes her. When Kim reveals that she has actually changed her sex, he freaks out. As Paul proceeds to wreck Kim's new life, the mismatched pair embark on a wild journey and end up forging a different and surprising relationship.

Drift

The sharp edges of a gay love triangle that develops between a young screenwriter named Ryan, his boyfriend Joel, and a college student/aspiring novelist named Leo. Ryan becomes infatuated with Leo, believing he found someone who can understand his goals and professional passions. This news would obviously not be welcomed by Joel, who has been in a three-year relationship with Ryan. Further complicating matters is the fact Ryan is still very much in love with Joel. One fateful morning, Ryan leaves Joel at their apartment... and the tale then drifts into three different possibilities regarding how this triangular dilemma could be resolved.

Eating Out

Caleb is a hunky poli-sci major with an affection for aggressive girls. Gwen is an aggressive girl who falls for gay acting boys. It's a match made in therapy. In a plan hatched by his crafty gay roommate Kyle, Caleb finds himself pretending to be gay to woo Gwen, but their scheme is thwarted when Gwen decides that Caleb would be the perfect catch for her own gay roommate, Marc--the object of Kyle's affection. Caleb is faced with a confusing proposition. Gwen wonders if she'll ever find a straight guy. Marc can't tell why the new guy is so hot and cold. And Kyle watches the two loves of his life leave him behind.

French Twist

Laurent and Loli are happily married with two beautiful children. Laurent is a successful businessman who runs a real estate agency in the south of France while Loli spends her days as a housewife. Laurent is also a philanderer who has a series of extramarital affairs while Loli remains blissfully unaware of his extracurricular activities. One day Laurent and Loli's harmonious lifestyle is disrupted when Marijo's camper breaks down outside their house. Laurent and Marijo have only one thing in common--they both like women. When Marijo begins to pursue Loli, however, a threatened Laurent fights to keep his marriage intact. The fragile triangle that develops proves both funny and moving.

Friends & Lovers

A father invites his estranged son and his friends to spend a weekend at a ski resort around the Christmas holidays. The group all have romantic problems: Carla is a would-be model wooed by sketchy German ski instructor Hans; Jane is pregnant and won't name the father; David is a gay virgin and Jon just can't get a date. Over the course of the weekend, new relationships are made and broken, and Ian begins to reconcile with his father.

Get Real

Steven is a gay 16-year-old in a middle class English suburb. Only his best friend Linda knows about his sexuality, but he is moving towards coming out to his parents and perhaps at school. His big problem, though, is that he fancies the school jock John, a rich hunk who seems out of his league in more ways than one. However, a chance encounter in a public toilet reveals that John, too, may be gay and the two of them must deal with this knowledge. What seems like a dream come true for Steven is a nightmare for John, and the stakes are raised when Steven submits an anonymous essay to the school magazine about being gay.

Hedwig and The Angry Inch

Adapted from the critically acclaimed off-Broadway rock theater hit, "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" tells the story of an 'internationally ignored' rock singer, Hedwig and her search for freedom and love. Born a boy named Hansel, whose life dream is to find his other half, Hedwig reluctantly submits to a sex change operation in order to marry an American G.I. and get over the Berlin Wall to freedom. The operation is botched, leaving her with the aforementioned angry inch. From East Berlin, she sets off for Kansas City with hopes of becoming a famous rocker. Finding herself high, dry and divorced in a Kansas trailer, Hedwig pushes to form a rock band--The Angry Inch. While supporting herself with babysitting gigs, she falls for a 16-year-old Jesus freak she renames Tommy Gnosis. Tommy steals her songs and becomes the rock star Hedwig always dreamed she'd be. Refusing to be defeated, she fiercely performs in crumbling theme restaurants seeking recognition and retribution.

It's In The Water

The small town of Azalea Springs, Texas goes into a frenzy when it is rumored that something in the water is turning people gay. A funny film that doesn't shy away from such weighty issues as sexual identity, heterosexism, AIDS, and intolerance.

It's My Party

Nick Stark is a Los Angeles architect graced with vitality, good looks, loyal friends, a thriving career, a down-to-earth attitude, and an irreverent sense of humor. Lately, however, Nick's vision and memory have been short-circuiting, and his headaches won't go away. Although he looks healthy, he has been fending off AIDS-related illnesses for years. And now, just before Christmas, his doctor tells him that untreatable lesions (progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy) will decimate all his faculties within days. He might die quickly, or linger in a vegetative coma, never to recover. Nick decided long ago that he would never linger; his friend Tony, a former health professional, will help him die with dignity. But Nick, who has always known how to live, intends to savor his remaining time by gathering everyone he loves for a two-day farewell party.

When a partnership is torn apart by opposing belief systems, when a small infant lives in the surreal world of the Neonatology Intensive Care Unit for 158 days? Nicholas goes through medical procedure after medical procedure--because science and medicine "can" keep a fetus alive. But at what price do we hold onto life? Nicole is faced with the question that haunts in the night: When does caring become cruelty? Nicole is obsessed by her son's need to be here. Gwen is terrified that long hospital stays and the mini-hospital in their own home will erode the family to a place of no return.

Loggerheads

In the small town of Eden, a minister's wife must confront her conservative husband, who has enforced a harsh estrangement from their adopted son since they've learned that he's gay. Listless and disappointed in life, Grace makes a last ditch decision to search for the son she was pressured into giving up for adoption as a teenager. Mark, a longtime drifter who is strangely fascinated with loggerhead seat turtles, crosses paths with George, a fixture of his quiet beach community who for a time provides Mark the support and companionship he's been starved of.

My Summer of Love

A tale of romance, obsession and deception which charts the emotional and physical hothouse effects that bloom one summer for two young women. Mona, behind a spiky exterior, hides an untapped intelligence and a yearning for something beyond the emptiness of her daily life. Tamsin is well-educated, spoiled and cynical. As they are complete opposites, each is wary of the other's differences when they first meet--but this coolness soon melts into mutual fascination, amusement and attraction. Adding further volatility is Mona's older brother Phil, who has renounced his criminal past for religious fervor-- which he tries to impose upon his sister. Mona, however, is experiencing her own rapture. "We must never be parted," Tamsin intones to Mona--but can Mona completely trust her?

Mysterious Skin

"The summer I was eight years old, five hours disappeared from my life. Five hours, lost, gone without a trace." These are the words of Brian Lackey, a troubled 18-year-old, growing up in the stiflingly small town of Hutchinson, Kansas. Plagued by nightmares, Brian believes that he may have been the victim of an alien abduction. Local Neil McCormick, however, is the ultimate beautiful outsider. With a loving but promiscuous mother, Neil is wise beyond his years and curious about his developing sexuality, having found what he perceived to be love from his Little League baseball coach at a very early age. Now, ten years later, Neil is a teenage hustler, nonchalant about the dangerous path his life is taking. Neil's pursuit of love leads him to New York City, while Brian's voyage of self discovery leads him to Neil--who helps him to unlock the dark secrets of their past.

Object of My Affection, The

Nina is the stepsister of the wife of a successful literary agent. While at a dinner party hosted by the former, she inadvertently informs an acquaintance, George, that his lover, Robert, is dumping him. After the inevitable confrontation, George takes up Nina's invitation to stay at her place until things cool down. George initially serves a purpose by helping to keep Nina's overbearing boyfriend, Vince, at a distance. What Nina and George don't count on is falling into a type of love. Things are rosy until Nina tells George she is pregnant with Vince's baby. Unable to tell the father, she asks George to stay on to raise the child in place of the real father, Vince.

Punks

The life and times of a group of twentysomething black gay men living in West Hollywood. The group is led by Marcus, a successful photographer who doesn't really date -- that is until drop-dead-gorgeous Darby moves in next door. Marcus rushes over to lend a helping hand to his new neighbor and finds, much to his chagrin, that Darby is straight. Marcus heads off to drown his sorrows at Miss Smokies, a favorite bar where he catches up with some friends: Hill, who moves in with Marcus after he catches his boyfriend cheating on him; Dante, a young, hell-bent party guy who leans heavily on drugs and alcohol; and Chris, a fabulous diva drag queen who adds just the right amount of flair into their already dramatic lives.

Rent

In New York's East Village, a group of bohemians struggle to express themselves through their art and strive for success and acceptance while enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic. Roger is an aspiring songwriter who has emotionally shut down after his girlfriend's suicide. Despite his attraction, he is reluctant to start a new romance with his downstairs neighbor Mimi Marquez, an exotic dancer struggling with "baggage of her own." Roger's roommate Mark is a filmmaker trying to balance art and commerce. His girlfriend Maureen, a self-indulgent performance artist, recently left him for a lawyer named Joanne. Also part of this close-knit circle is Tom Collins, a professor of philosophy who, after being mugged, is rescued by his soul mate, a high-spirited street drummer, Angel Shunard. Benny, who alienated his friends after he married their landlord's daughter, has reneged on his promise to provide rent-free artist space to his bohemian friends. Once a close friend, he is now viewed as the enemy, threatening them with eviction.

Rules of Attraction, The

During a semester at New England's exclusive and ultra-expensive Camden College, a sexual triangle emerges between Sean Bateman, the all-American looking guy who deals drugs on the side, Paul Owen, who's bisexual, and Paul's ex-girlfriend, Lauren. Sean grows obsessed with the pure Lauren because he thinks she's passing him passionate, anonymous love notes. At the same time, Paul keeps trying to get Sean into bed, while Lauren pines for Victor, who she believes is her dream man despite the fact he is studying abroad in Europe.

Saving Face

For 28-year-old New Yorker Wilhelmina "Wil" Pang, life is a juggling act between a promising career as a surgeon and her responsibilities as a dutiful daughter. Like the #7 train she takes to visit her Chinese family on a weekly basis, Wil is perpetually in transit between two worlds. The expectations of Flushing, Queens society she is from and the desires that alienate her from it have made Wil content to live below the surface--even if it means playing an inadvertent game of charades with her widowed mother and the world Ma represents. The masquerade is comic even in its pain as Wil tolerates Ma's weekly set ups with eligible Chinese-American boys at the Friday Chinese socials; but it quickly becomes a farce when Ma's mask cracks first. One night, Wil comes home to find Ma on her doorstep--pregnant. Disgraced by the Chinese community, and with no where else to go, Ma moves in with her daughter, making it difficult for Wil to nurture a budding relationship with gorgeous dancer Vivian. As her carefully compartmentalized worlds collide, Wil is forced to find her mother a husband, placate her girlfriend, and choose between breaking a cycle of keeping up appearances, or risk losing the girl she loves.

Splendor

Veronica is a white-bread beauty searching for a good man in Los Angeles. While slam dancing at a Halloween rave, she meets Abel, a sensitive poet. Then she meets Zed, a supersexy tattooed drummer with incredible biceps. Who will she choose? Does she go for true love or cheap sex? She can't decide so she chooses both. But after managing to nurture a picture-perfect threesome, along comes Ernest, a rich movie director with deep baby blues that sweep Veronica off her feet. What's a girl to do now?

Squid and the Whale, The

Park Slope, Brooklyn, 1986. When Walt Berkman, an impressionable 16-year-old, passes off the Pink Floyd song "Hey You" as his original work and performs it at a high school talent show, he's perfectly content with his rationale. "I felt I could have written it so the fact that it was already written was kind of a technicality." At the same time, his 12-year-old brother Frank drinks beer and wonders openly about his mother's sex life. Both are simply reacting to the fall-out from the bomb dropped on their comfortable family life when their parents, Bernard--a once promising author and now middle-aged academic and Joan--a burgeoning writer with a book deal--announce that they are splitting up. The familiar, steady foundation is shaken. Walt and Frank are relegated to alternating weekends and a jumbled calendar of Mom or Dad nights. The kids are left to grapple with the confusing and conflicted feelings that arise from the sudden collapse of their parents' marriage.

Stonewall

It's summer 1969 in New York City. Matty Dean arrives on a Greyhound bus. Young, gay and full of dreams, Matty heads downtown. It's the time of the Vietnam War and the Apollo Moon Walk; homosexuality is still illegal. It's the summer of love--but not if you're gay. When Matty finds the Stonewall Inn, wild haunt of fabulous diva drag queens and hangout of the defiant and outspoken street queen Miranda, he experiences a gay life he never knew before. Witnessing the harrassment and butalitiy inflicted on the queers of the Stonewall Inn by the local cops, Matty soon realizes the impossibility of a "safe" gay life and the limitations of fighting for social acceptance from within the system. On the eve of Judy Garland's death, the Stonewall Inn is raided yet again. Harrassed to their limit, the queens of the bar finally fight force with force, invoking a full fledged riot. Pushed to his own crisis of conscience, Matty kicks off his penny-loafers and joins the fight for his right to love openly.

Threesome

Alex, college junior and aspiring actress, is mistakenly assigned to an all-male dorm room. When the university refuses to correct the error, Alex finds herself squeezed into the most intimate of living arrangements with two guys she's never met before. Having become best friends in the short time that they have lived together, Stuart and Eddy are not quite sure how to react to this beautiful intruder. Stuart, the campus stud, tries to seduce her, only to learn that she's attracted to introspective Eddy, who is hiding his secret desires for Stuart.

Contending with AIDS, alienation, suicide, drugs and gaybashing, a group of queer teens muddle through with wit, irony and wide-open hearts.

Transamerica

Bree is a highly educated, conservative transsexual woman who passes as a G.G., living in a poor section of Los Angeles and working two jobs to save money for her final sexual reassignment surgery. Her life takes an unexpected journey when she learns that when she was a he, she fathered a son, now a teenage runaway hustling on the streets of New York. When she receives a phone call from Toby, who's looking for his father, she realizes she must confront her past. She flies to New York to bail Toby out of jail and offers him a ride cross-country, secretly plotting to abandon him with the stepfather he ran away from.

Unveiled

Fariba, prosecuted in Iran because of her love to a woman, flees to Germany. But her application for asylum is turned down. Her desperate prospects are improved by the suicide of her fellow-inmate Siamak: she assumes his identity and using his temporary permit of sojourn, is send to a province village. At first glance her survival seems to be assured, but in the refugee home she is obliged to uphold her male disguise in cramped quarters and a single mistake could blow up her cover. In order to pay for forged documents, she takes an illegal job in a sauerkraut factory, where she meets Anne, who is very solicitous about Siamak's well-being and derives some kind of pleasure from the strange foreigner. While spending more and more time together, they become dangerously close and Anne begins to suspect Fariba's true identity.

Urbania

Charlie has experienced a trauma, but he's doing his best to regain control of his life. Drawn to a mysterious stranger spotted from a distance, Charlie believes he's found the key to his recovery. As he searches the city in an effort to revisit this chance meeting, he encounters old friends and new acquaintances--all of whom have their own tale to tell and their own eerie connection to him, and each other. When he finally meets the object of his fascination what seems like a clandestine romance turns intriguingly darker. For Charlie, the boundaries of reality, which have given his life order, have shifted. The lines separating past and present, true and false, love and hate, gay and straight, have blurred. And as Charlie completes his quest, the urban myths we tell each other--the man with the stolen kidney, the poodle in the microwave--as well as the fantasies that spin in his head , merge as one and come to life to haunt him.

Yossi & Jagger

Based on a true story, a tale which portrays the love affair of two Israeli officers on the Israeli-Lebanese border. They are commanders, they are in love, and they are trying to find a place of their own within an oppressive and rigid system, that sends them to defend a cause they don't necessarily believe in. Yossi, the company commander, is an introverted guy, and largely, a man-of-the-system. However, Jagger, the platoon commander, is an open and much more liberated young man; as well, he is the star of the platoon. Yossi is determined to keep their love in secret. Whereas, Jagger, who is about to finish the service, believes that Yossi should leave the army with him. Shortly before departing for a dangerous ambush, the tension between the lovers becomes nearly explosive, as the pressures mount around them. Their relationship charts both the amusing and painful aspects surrounding the complicated and sensitive topic of gays in the military. It also illuminates the tragic life structure of young Israelis today, by presenting a lively group of young, military men and women, stuck somewhere other than where they want to be in life. In this time of their lives, they are normally supposed to be able to dance, to study, and to love. Instead, due to the mandatory army service and the complicated situation in the region, they have to devote their most beautiful years to their country, to be soldiers--unfortunately, to kill and be killed. In their diverse platoon, one can find: a soldier who believes in reincarnation, a chef who finds comfort in cooking a gourmet cuisine, and two young women who try to survive in a man's world. The only common denominator among this diverse group of 20-year-olds is their lust for life. The love affair between Yossi and Jagger only complicates what is an already precarious situation for these young soldiers.
